1. Tink – I Like (2015)
Tink is one of my favorite “upcoming” artists that I’ve been watching. Not only can she rap better than many, but has a phenomenal voice used for an added R&B feel.
2. Jay Rock – Money Trees Deuce (2015)
Jay Rock is probably one of the lesser known members of TDE, but is not new to the game of rap. Featured on K-Dot’s song “Money Trees” on his album Good Kid M.A.A.D City, he reprises his role on his own song.
3. Tinashe ft. Dev Hynes – Bet (2014)
Tinashe definitely displayed on this great R&B album released the end of 2014 that she is def more than her song “2 On”, which on displays a small hint of her vocal abilities, with “Bet” ft. Dev Hynes AKA Blood Orange.
4. August Alsina – Hip-Hop (2015)
August Alsina gives us a track filled with meaning, emotion, and the feeling of reminiscing in this song. With an infectious chorus, August shows that he can make music displaying the arrays of life.
5. Janet Jackson – No Sleeep (2015)
I am very excited for the return of Janet Jackson and her new world tour that I hope to attend. Janet gives us a track with what she is well known for, smooth quiet-storm-esque R&B produced by legends Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis who made her previous albums the diamonds that they are today.
6. Selena Gomez ft. A$AP Rocky – Good For You (2015)
Selena Gomez shows us that she is no longer (or maybe experimenting) the typical Disney artists we usually see her as. She dabbles into the more deep R&B production that never fails along with a feature from A$Ap Rocky.
7. Jazmine Sullivan – Veins (2015)
One of our underrated R&B gems of this generation, Jazmine Sullivan returned in her newest album “Reality Show” and just gives us R&B greatness with the emotion heavy song.
8. The Internet – Gabby (2015)
I must admit that I am just now getting into The Internet after purchasing this album. They just gave us neo soul realness with the amazing vocals from Syd Tha Kyd & Janelle Monae. This entire album was simply great, with an album review coming soon!
9. T.I ft. Chris Brown – Private Show (2014)
What I love about this song much is the phenomenal production and the smoothness of it combined with the vocals of Chris Brown, just the icing on the cake!
10. Kelela – A Lie (2013)
Kelela is personally one of my favorite alternative R&B singers and proves it even more in ehr song “A Life” from her debut album/mixtape “Cut 4 Me”. This is one of my favorite “sad songs” with the simplicity of the production and environmental feeling created in this song (if that makes sense).
